Two men have been arrested in northern Albania following separate domestic violence incidents in Lezhë and Kurbin, police said, after searches of their homes uncovered firearms, ammunition and explosives.

Police seized a total of five sticks of TNT, two firearms and military ammunition during the operations. One of the firearms was reportedly found loaded, with a round in the chamber.

In Lezhë, police arrested a 33-year-old man identified by the initials M.P., who is suspected of physically and psychologically assaulting his brother’s wife. A search of his home allegedly uncovered five sticks of TNT, a rifle and military ammunition.

In the Kurbin area, police arrested a 48-year-old man identified as G.K., a resident of Mamurras, who is suspected of subjecting his father to psychological violence. Officers reportedly found an automatic firearm hidden inside his home, with a round in the chamber, along with military ammunition.

Police said the arrests followed emergency calls reporting domestic violence and described the operations as swift interventions by officers in Lezhë and Kurbin.

The case files have been referred to the Lezhë Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation and legal action, police said.

The allegations against both suspects remain subject to the ongoing judicial process.
