Power Outage Leaves Albania’s Sarandë Without Electricity Amid Tourist Season
The coastal city of Sarandë was left without electricity late Thursday after a widespread power outage was reported across the city, according to local media reports.
The outage began at around 9:30 p.m. local time, with preliminary reports suggesting that heavy demand on the electricity network may have caused one of the three feeders supplying the line to fail.
Power company crews are expected to work to restore electricity and determine the exact cause of the incident.
The outage comes as Sarandë is experiencing a peak summer tourist season, with large numbers of visitors staying in the city and surrounding areas along the Albanian Riviera.
There were no immediate reports of injuries linked to the outage.
