Anti-Government Protest Enters Tenth Day as Hundreds March Through Tirana

A citizen-led protest entered its tenth consecutive day on Tuesday, with demonstrators once again gathering in Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the Prime Minister’s Office in the heart of the Albanian capital.

After nine straight days of demonstrations, public mobilization shows little sign of slowing. As in previous evenings, protesters filled the square waving Albanian flags and chanting slogans that have become synonymous with the movement.

Among the most frequently heard chants were “Rama, leave,” “We want justice,” “The homeland is not for sale,” “New Albania,” “Join us,” and “Edi Rama is finished,” reflecting growing frustration among participants.

The tenth day of protests follows a marathon demonstration the previous night, when thousands of citizens remained on the streets of Tirana for hours. Protesters marched from the city’s main boulevard toward the University Campus area before returning to the city center late in the evening.

What has become increasingly noticeable over the course of the demonstrations is that the movement appears to have expanded beyond the specific issue that initially sparked the protests. While criticism of the government remains a central theme, many participants have also voiced broader dissatisfaction with Albania’s political establishment as a whole.

Observers say the evolving nature of the demonstrations reflects wider public concerns over governance, accountability, and the country’s political future, transforming what began as a single-cause protest into a broader expression of civic discontent.
